Idia rolls his eyes, though his smile is warmly fond. The last traces of pink and red in his hair fade back to blue as he gives Cater a light, playful shove. “You’d better be ready for me. I’m gonna work my way along you like a skill tree. Now scram so I can finish up, we can’t leave at the same time just in case anyway.”
Cater isn’t the only one in a great mood. Idia might actually have the social recharge now to tolerate another full in-person class... even if he’ll spend most of it daydreaming about sex with his boyfriend.
Climb him like a skill tree?! Cater's smiling even wider as he assents to the command, ducking out of the stall so Idia can have his privacy. "That better be a promise, Flambae!"
Once he's washed his hands and made sure he doesn't look frazzled, Cater leaves the bathroom to head off. He's thinking he should have time to grab something from a vending machine on the way to class, and not thinking about how much his face is going to hurt from smiling so much.
Idia does what he needs to do as quickly as he can, careful not to leave any evidence where it could be found later. Ugh, being neat is a hassle, how do super-meticulous types do this 24/7? It must be exhausting. Definitely using condoms next time, save the bareback for their room.
… “their” room? Oh. Oh, he’s started thinking of his dorm as theirs, even though Cater is Heartslabyul. The thought stops him in his tracks as he’s exiting the stall. His heart feels so warm and buoyant. Shaking himself loose from the mushiness, he washes his hands and tries to ignore his grin in the mirror. He’s still smiling as he exits the room and heads back toward class. He’s got a snack in his hoodie pocket, he’ll nibble on the way.
Class is about as drawn out as ever when you'd rather be somewhere else. Cater doesn't trust himself to sit next to Idia after the rendezvous they had during the break--he knows he'll be way too obvious.
There is a moment, however, where he can't help watching Idia. Half the class is barely conscious, and he knows that the typical classmate might see him and assume he's staring off into space, maybe thinking about his next Magicam update. He waits until Idia catches his eyes, and gives him a slow blink--a secret message only he'll understand.
Idia's eyes widen slightly at the slow blink before the tiniest grin finds his lips. He returns the slow blink with his heart fluttering. A cat kiss, Cater sent him a cat kiss! How much more adorable can his boyfriend get? It takes admirable self-control not to break into giggles in the middle of class, and Idia's grateful he can hide his smile with his hood and his hair.
He's going to absolutely jump Cater's bones the second they get back to Ignihyde. He's not sure he'll be able to wait until they get back to his room if Cater keeps on being so sweet!
By the end of the day, Idia's going to regret falling for an incorrigible tease. For all his whining that he wanted to blow off the rest of the day to go do a different kind of blowing, Cater has fully committed to the anticipation angle. When the final bell tolls for the day, the ginger takes his sweet time collecting his notes, stretching at his desk.
"Maybe I'll stop by the courtyard," he muses out loud, to absolutely no one in particular. "Take some photos while there's still some sunshine left in the day."
He can't help but glance over in Idia's direction. Is he still in his seat? Did he rush out into the hallway? Cater's hoping he can really drive his boyfriend to madness--see how long Idia can manage to keep his hands to himself.
Idia actually is still in his seat, calmly packing his tablet and other gear. He doesn’t look up when Cater talks, his head down enough for his hood and hair to conceal much of his face. He slings his bag over his shoulder and stands up, making his way to the door with deliberate casualness. As he passes Cater, he glances up just enough for the ginger to see his manic, almost feral grin. That smile? Means trouble.
Without a word, Idia sweeps out of the room, his long stride eating up the distance even without running.
So unfair! How can Idia be so good at driving him crazy when he's over here, like, a professional tease?!
I hate to see you go but love to watch you leave. :P ;) <3
He has to send that much once Idia's out of sight, he can't help himself. And what's more, is he was totally going to drag this out for way, way longer, but as he stops to talk with a few random classmates along the hall, Cater keeps checking his phone to see if Idia's been texting him.
Before it's been all that much time he's making his way to Ignihyde, pouting playfully as he reaches Idia's door and peeks his head inside.
By the time Cater gets to his room, Idia has changed into a t-shirt and pajama pants: full Comfy Mode. He looks back over his shoulder from his gaming chair, smirking. “Always. But it’s fun making you wonder what’s waiting for you.”
He finally turns his chair around, and there’s a glossy black paperboard box cradled between his hands on his lap, about the size of a brick. “Think you deserve the contents of a premium lootbox? Maybe the side mission in the bathroom was enough to earn this?”
Cater's all gearing up to be a total brat when Idia reveals his secret. "Flambae! You didn't have to go to all the trouble of putting your dick in a box for me!"
He's kidding, of course. He knows that Idia would (probably) not do that, even for a meme. Even through the joke, though, the surprise is genuine, and Cater closes the door behind him. "Seriously, though, you didn't have to get me anything. What is it?"
Slipping out of his shoes and his blazer, Cater approaches.
Idia snickers but his eyes are soft and warm with affection. He holds out the box with both hands. “I didn’t get you anything. It’s an Idia Shroud original.”
Well, with the box off Idia’s lap, Cater has an available seat. Idia even makes the invitation obvious: “Cuddle with me while you open it. I wanna hug you for a bit.”
Idia didn't even have to ask--though Cater always loves hearing the sentiment, regardless. He's barely got the box in his hands before he's swiveling around into Idia's lap, and there's something so special about cuddling with him in the gaming chair. First thing's first: he tilts his head back so he can steal a kiss. His lips are missing Idia's far too much to focus on anything else.
But once that's taken care of, Cater looks down toward the box. "That's even more special, you know," he teases as he slides the fitted top up to reveal its contents.
Idia’s arms wind around his waist as Cater removes the box lid. Under a sheet of black anti-static foam is a sleek metallic red smartphone. The screen is almost edge to edge, and when the front camera registers Cater’s face that screen lights up with a message: “Good afternoon, Cay-bae.” The message fades out, replaced by a heart that pulses once before also fading into a loaded Home screen.
“You’re holding one of only two of the most advanced smartphones in the world. Do you like it?”
Staring at the phone in his hand, the most expensive item he's probably ever touched before, Cater can't help but feel flabbergasted. Maybe he should've figured that at some point in time, Idia would build him something, phone or otherwise, but it genuinely never crossed his mind to expect such a thing. He'd never even imagine taking advantage of Idia's gifts for his own gain, and there are so many things that Idia could make that have nothing to do with him, so why would he go out of his way if Cater wasn't asking?
It's shocking to hold this one-of-a-kind item, priceless in more ways than one, and as much as it excites him to play around with it, for now he presses it over his heart. "Idia, I love it--it's amazing! You really, really didn't have to. Are you sure it isn't too much for me to have something like this?"
He looks up at his boyfriend, face shining with glee and with love and unexpected joy. It feels like something that he doesn't really deserve to be given, but there's no way he can hide how happy it makes him to have been given it.
Cater’s happily overwhelmed expression has Idia giggling and hugging his boyfriend tightly. “Duh, it’s not too much. You give gifts when you love somebody, it’s something you’ll use, and it gives you advantages for certain things….”
He pulls the phone away from Cater’s chest while leaving it in the other boy’s hands, tapping at the screen with a finger. His other arm stays wrapped around Cater. “The cameras are top of the line, and you have an entire suite of photo editing apps. There’s three terabytes of storage for now, I can upgrade later if you need it. And the security protocols were programmed by yours truly, so no one’s getting into your phone. You know, in case you wanna take… special pics.”
Did Idia just roundabout offer to pose for dirty pics? Yes, he did.
Cater kicks his legs out in front of them, feeling like a child on Christmas. Except this is so, so much better, because he basically never got anything that mattered to him on Christmas. It feels like a gift that's so much more than he deserves, but having it makes him feel so warm and incredible and he can't help kissing Idia's neck and face over and over in his show of love and thanks.
"Really? You'd let me do that?" It sends a total thrill through him--because he's wanted to so, so badly. And not just for sexy pictures, either. "I want to take so many pictures of you, and of us. Videos, too! I want to document all the memories we make together."
And for once, it isn't because he's afraid that it's all he'll have. That those moments in time are just moments that won't have any ultimate impact on his future. From the seat he's currently in, all he can think about is how they're going to enjoy looking back on these young, goofy days where they were breaking new ground even when it was scariest. How they can smile and laugh together as they relive the sappy beginnings of their love. Cater truly can't imagine a day where he isn't with Idia, where he doesn't love him just as much.
"I'd be nervous about you doing it with your old phone, but this one? The only way the pics would get out is if you shared them on purpose. And I know you wouldn't do that." There's no sarcasm in that last admission, just honest trust. Cater would never humiliate him out of cruelty. "D-- do you want a pic or two now, to test the cameras?"
The idea of Cater seeing him naked doesn't bother him in the slightest, of course. But this is a new thing for him, having that image preserved forever. Their phones might be secure, but there's always that irrational fear of someone seeing things over Cater's shoulder... no, he won't think like that. He trusts his boyfriend, almost more than he trusts himself. There are so many possibilities for their future, both in front of a camera and simply with each other.
For as happy as Cater is with the new phone and how excited he is to start taking pictures as soon as possible, he isn't necessarily expecting Idia to offer to pose for him. So at the question, he shifts a little to be able to look more properly up at his boyfriend's face. "Totally! But only if you want to, okay? We've got all the time in the world to get started."
With his free hand, he reaches up to cup Idia's cheek, pulling him in for another sweet kiss. "You're sexiest of all when you're feeling comfortable."
Idia hums into the kiss, letting it quiet some of the ever-present anxious whirling of his thoughts. Being called sexy still makes him blush, the concept of someone finding him attractive still novel to the shy boy. He knows Cater isn’t simply spouting empty flattery, though. Genuine love is so amazing.
“I want you to have something for when you go back to Heartslabyul. An inaugural gift for the new phone, you could say.” Idia grins sheepishly. “I would’ve tried taking one myself but my selfies are garbage-tier. You’re the shutterbug.”
"Come on, they're not that bad! You just need a bit more practice, which I could totally force you into," he replies teasingly before the hand he has on Idia's cheek squeezes it softly. "Hmmm, I have an idea. How about we take matching pictures for when we're both stuck in separate dorms? I'll take your picture and you take mine?"
It's for their eyes only, anyway, so it doesn't matter if they're not the best quality or the perfect angles. It's all about capturing that memory, being able to look back on it fondly.
Matching pics? That’s an appealing idea. Taking pics of each other is easier than selfies, and Cater looks gorgeous no matter what, so Idia knows he’ll end up with something memorable.
So he nods eagerly, enjoying the warm hand squishing his cheek for a moment before urging Cater off his lap. “I’ll go first. I don’t trust myself not to pounce on you if you flash something too tasty to resist.”
Laughing, Cater bounces up to his feet, winking as he turns back around to pull Idia up by his sleeve. "You still have your proclamation of climbing me like a skill tree to make good on--don't forget!"
If he takes his clothes off and they stay off for the night, Cater isn't going to complain. "So, did you have any artistic vision in mind, or am I setting up the scene?"
“I’m pretty sure the clothes aren’t going back on tonight,” Idia chuckles, letting himself be tugged up to his feet. “You’re gonna have to get coverage or do the run of no-shame-only-Riddle-fear in the morning.”
They should start slow, maybe a few shots each. Idia wriggles his fingers at his sides for a moment, one of his thinking fidgets. “How about two or three pics? Start with just a little peek, a tease? Then more obvious, like half-clothed? And then, if you want… I can go fully unequipped.”
"Everything coming out of your mouth right now is music to my ears." Though, honestly, Idia's voice is always music to his ears. Everything from his goofy giggle to his fast-paced mumbling when he's focused and intent. Not wanting to worry about it at that moment, Cater decides to worry about handling his trip back to Heartslabyul later. "Alright, lay down and get comfortable--we can start by riding your shirt up, almost like it happened naturally in your sleep."
A mental image he already has in his brain, one of his first glimpses of a partly-undressed Idia he had. He'd looked so lovely then, asleep and mussed. How many times has he called back to that specific moment in time, even if they've had far spicier ones since then? Immortalizing it now in a more real sense...it feels right.
Idia sits on the edge of his bed and swings his legs up, only to flop backward in a way that makes his hair fan over most of the pillows in a wild halo. There’s already a strip of pale skin showing above his waistband. He slides a hand down and slowly rucks the hem of his shirt higher and higher, until Cater can see one nipple clearly and the other halfway revealed. It’s so much like that morning he caught Idia asleep, except those hooded yellow eyes are watching him with a sleepy yet hungry stare.
