Before today, Idia would've hesitated at the thought of being in a photo, even a personal one. The few that Cater has taken of him (that he knows of) would give him a little spike of anxiety even when he agreed. Today there's nothing but happiness at the thought of commemorating this night. Nodding, he snuggles in to tuck his head between Cater's jaw and shoulder, not quite resting on his neck, and looks up toward the camera with that heart-melting soft smile Cater adores. Locks of his hair lay across the dark grey of the other boy's borrowed shirt, like softly glowing tropical waves on a dark beach. Next to the blue ripples, he lays a pale hand over Cater's heart.
Cater's sure that if he scrolls back to compare this new photo with the last photo he took of Idia, the difference would be night and day. Leaning his own cheek into Idia's hair he threads the fingers of his free hand through Idia's, keeping their joined hands over his heart. The smile he gives the photo is softer than those he usually has in them, but somehow much brighter. There's no doubt that anyone who saw it would be able to tell that the two were completely enamored with one another.
"Of course I will," he promises once the photo's been saved. He'll send it once he's back in his own dorm, just for an excuse to look at it again. Turning his head to give Idia a kiss, he murmurs, "#nofilter."
If this is a dream he doesn't ever want to wake up. Thank the gods Cater didn't give up on chasing him all these years and that Idia finally gave him a chance. The emptiness that lived inside both of them for so long is gone, filled with brightness, hope, love. They stumbled through the darkness and came out on the other side with their hands and hearts joined.
Idia prays it lasts a lifetime, because where do you go from here? Nowhere he ever wants to be again, that's for damned certain.
